Instructions for Tying an Improved Clinch Knot
Thread the Line Through the Eye:
Pass the end of the fishing line through the eye of the hook, lure, or swivel.
Wrap the Line:
Take the tag end of the line and wrap it around the standing part of the line 5-7 times. The number of wraps can vary based on the thickness of the line; thinner lines may require more wraps.
Create a Loop:
After making the wraps, take the tag end and pass it through the small loop formed just above the eye of the hook.
Form the Final Loop:
Now, pass the tag end through the larger loop that has formed by this action. This step is what distinguishes the improved clinch knot from the regular clinch knot.
Tighten the Knot:
Moisten the knot with water or saliva to reduce friction and ensure the knot tightens smoothly.
Pull on the standing part of the line while holding the tag end to tighten the coils snugly around the standing part.
Secure the Knot:
Once the knot is tightened and snug, trim the tag end close to the knot, leaving a small amount to prevent slippage.
